The Lonely Road..
3rd Edition
When you decide to kick off a new project, it's like chugging a double espresso with a side of adrenaline.
Suddenly, you're a superhero with a toolbelt, ready to conquer the world—or at least your living room. The possibilities are endless, and the excitement is palpable. You can almost see yourself lounging in your newly revamped space, surrounded by friends and family, all of whom are marveling at your DIY prowess.
The vision is so clear, you can practically touch the textures, see the colours, and bask in the glow of your own awesomeness.
Then comes the planning phase, which is basically a tornado of ideas and inspirations. You start stalking inspirational pages on social media, subscribing to design blogs like they're going out of style, and crashing open houses just to steal a peek at the latest trends. Your days become a blur of bookmarking, saving, sharing, copying, emailing, and snapping pics of every nook and cranny that catches your eye. Each image and idea is meticulously curated to build that dream space you've been fantasizing about.
Before you know it, you're knee-deep in Pinterest boards and Instagram feeds, where every scroll is like opening a treasure chest of possibilities. Hours fly by as you dive deeper into this rabbit hole of design delight, and you might even forget to eat. But who needs food when you're feasting on the buffet of creativity?
If only you knew where to get started..
And so, days morph into weeks, and before you know it, they’ve shape-shifted into months.
Time has a funny way of slipping through your fingers, doesn’t it?
Houston, we have a problem.
Where do you even begin? The task ahead seems monumental, almost insurmountable.
Do you need to chat with a builder, a building designer, an architect, a certifier, an engineer? The list is longer than the line-up on a Sutday morning to get a snag at Bunnings.
Excitement quickly does a nosedive into disillusionment as the path ahead looks foggier than a London morning.
The initial thrill of starting a new project is rapidly replaced by a sense of dread and confusion. There are so many conflicting opinions, and gathering information is like trying to herd cats.
Everyone seems to have a different take on what needs to be done, and sifting through the advice feels like navigating a labyrinth.
Should you trust your cousin’s neighbour’s brother, who you met at a BBQ last week? He seemed knowledgeable, but is he really the expert you need? Or maybe you could give that guy that built your brothers place one last try?
Lost…
What’s next?
It can feel like you are wondering around in the desert but it doesn’t have to be this way… I can offer a clear path.
